Sprint Center Open House

The Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City opened to great fanfare on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. For one day only, the public got to view the inside of the Sprint Center and see what it had to offer. The open house attracted over 20,000 people accoring to the Kansas City Star. The project had been under construction for about 2 years and is part of an effort to revitalize Kansas City's downtown. The adjoining Power and Light District and Kansas City Live! performance area is sure to draw many more people to the urban core once they are complete in 2008. Parking is still an issue with major events that will be occuring at the Sprint Center and the draw of people to the Power and Light district, but now hopefully Kansas Citians can see the value of the MAX Bus Rapid Transit Line in easing of parking concerns.

I was very impressed with the Sprint Center, and even despite it not having a major league tenant at the moment, it is a very bustling arena with high-class concerts, arena football, sport tournaments, and more.
